She completed her studies at the Academy of Music in Łódź and postgraduate studies at the "Mozarteum" in Salzburg. Since 1998, she has been a soloist at the Grand Theatre in Łódź.
 
She is the recipient of numerous artistic awards and distinctions. In 1992, she won the 2nd prize at the Interuniversity International Vocal Competition in Duszniki Zdroj, and in 1994, she received a distinction at the Robert Schumann Competition in Zwickau, Germany. Just under a year later, she became the laureate of the 3rd prize at the International Vocal Art Competition named after Ada Sari in Nowy Sącz. In 1997, she received a distinction at the Antonín Dvořák International Vocal Competition in Karlovy Vary. In 2000, she won the award of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and in 2006, she received an award from the Marshal of the Łódź Voivodeship for her overall artistic activity.
 
Her repertoire includes roles such as the title role in Bizet's "Carmen," Cherubino in Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro," Flora in Verdi's "La Traviata," Jadwiga in Moniuszko's "The Haunted Manor," Fenena in Verdi's "Nabucco," Papagena in Mozart's "The Magic Flute," Amneris in Verdi's "Aida," Olga in Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin," and Izabella in Rossini's "The Italian Girl in Algiers."
 
Thanks to her acting skills and a wide range of vocal abilities, in recent seasons she has been cast in 22 operatic titles, performing in eight premieres. In 2006, she could be heard in the title role in Bizet's "Carmen" and as Cherubino in Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro." In 2007, she portrayed Bronia in Moniuszko's "The Countess," and in 2008, she took on the roles of Papagena in Mozart's "The Magic Flute," Olga in Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin," and Izabella in Rossini's "The Italian Girl in Algiers."
 
A particularly successful year for her was 2010, during which she successfully performed, among other roles, as the Ježibaba in Dvořák's "Rusalka" and in the world premiere of the opera "Lovers from the Valldeemosa Monastery" by Marta Ptaszyńska, directed by Tomasz Konina, where she sang the main part - George Sand, earning many excellent reviews and the recognition of critics. In the same year, Agnieszka Makówka also performed in the premiere of Tchaikovsky's "The Queen of Spades" directed by Mariusz Treliński, which was co-produced with the Grand Theatre-National Opera in Warsaw and The Israeli Opera TEL-AVIV-YAFO. In addition to her operatic repertoire, the artist can also be admired in concert series organized by the Grand Theatre in Łódź - Christmas Evenings, Valentine's Concerts, and Gala New Year's Concerts.
 
In 2021, the artist was awarded the Bronze Medal for Merit to Culture "Gloria Artis."
